Litecoin Looks for a Crypto Knockout With Global and Pay-Per-View UFC Fans
Litecoin is now an official sponsor for the upcoming UFC match between the 31-year-old champion Jon Jones and the 31-year-old challenger Alexander Gustafsson for the light heavyweight title.
As the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion company, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) features a lineup of the highest-level fighters on the globe and has amassed an enormous mainstream audience of MMA fans around the world.
Viewers will tune in this Saturday, December 29 for the pay-per-view UFC 232 event taking place at The Forum in Los Angeles. Litecoin, the eighth-largest crypto by market cap, expects the UFC affiliation to thrust it into a primetime ring, exposing millions of people to cryptocurrency.
Says the Litecoin Foundation,
“Having the Litecoin logo displayed on the Octagon’s canvas gives LTC global awareness that can spark interest and drive engagement with people from all walks of life who may have never heard of Litecoin or cryptocurrency before.”
Speaking to Cheddar, Litecoin project director David Schwartz says UFC is a great venue for Litecoin’s introduction on a global scale.
“They have over 1.1 billion viewers worldwide and over 180 countries. It’s a global sporting brand and obviously very dear to a lot of people.
“We see Litecoin as the payments coin for the world, and this is the perfect way to bring that out to a lot of people.
Schwartz sees the sponsorship as a gateway to more exposure for Litecoin, growing its brand and ecosystem beyond the crypto curious and its current network of merchants.
“I will tell you the sky is definitely the limit. This is the tip of the iceberg for us, and the UFC is an incredible organization to be associated with. We’re very happy about it. We definitely are already looking at expanding our relationship with them in any capacity possible. And literally nothing is off limits at this point.”
Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is owned and operated by entertainment giant William Morris Endeavor.
